WHO: Jessica Fisher
WHAT: Playback
WHERE: The Broadwater (Main Stage)
1076 Lillian Way
WHY: At first listen you think, “oh wow, this is a clever, an intelligently wittily written play structured within a podcast.” Through time and patience you realize this play is disrupting your sense of perception. It’s funny until it’s not. Like a lightning bolt you understand from experience: laughter is masking their pain and now fully I’m caught up in this heartbreaking story of two kids now adults…
The feelings we ignore, the pain we hold onto, the grief that simmers until it explodes. Often, causing destruction. Sometimes leading to overcompensation, coasting and increased anxiety.
This play asks us to dig deeper. How do we heal trauma we’ve masked in order to survive?
