A Play For Smokers.

A one-act written by Evelyn-Claire Smith, edited by Nikki Marie, and produced by Small Burden Productions.

Alex and Alma are in love — with each other, not so much with their life. Until Alma gets the job of her dreams and changes the tune. Set in their New York apartment and scored live by the emotions they cannot express; the conflicts ask us, is the role of a muse inherently submissive?

Set in a brick-walled apartment in Hell’s Kitchen, New York; couple Alex and Alma learn about each other (and themselves) through a series of arguments. The arguments vary through the course of their relationship and bring to light issues of intimacy, ambition, and ask the question; how much would you give to someone who asks? Their inner thoughts are scored by two musicians onstage who amplify their respective fears, dreams, and feelings towards each other, saying everything they can’t say to each other.
