Negative spaces. There’s life, there’s death, and there’s the spaces in-between.

Adam and Lily are lovers and doctors. Adam is divorced, with joint custody of a teenage daughter from a previous marriage. Adam wants to have a baby with Lily, and asks her to marry him. But things aren’t so simple. Adam repeatedly impregnates Lily, and she repeatedly mis-carries.

The stresses mount. Lily and Adam both have hectic professional lives. Adam’s daughter, Emma, is growing from a sweet, adorable girl into a contrary teenager, hurting as a child of divorce. Lily endures a physical toll from successive unsuccessful pregnancies. She also has issues of consent: when she wants to be pregnant and when she does not. Adam’s ex-wife tries to everyone’s life miserable. A friend of Lily’s from the neighborhood coffee shop, Cosette, comes around to help out in Lily’s and Adam’s home from time to time, which is fine until she seems to be there a little too often.

With all of the challenges facing them, can Lily and Adam’s love survive? Will they finally have the baby of which they’ve dreamed?
